Tsminda Sameba or the G ergeti Trinity Church is located on a 2170 metre high peak overlooking Stepantsminda.

The church's position on a high peak surrounded by nature has become a symbol of Georgia. During times of siege many sacred relics from around the country were brought here for safe keeping.

The hike up the mountain to reach the church takes at least three hours, or half an hour up a rutted jeep trail. The church is an important symbol for Georgians and you will see many Georgians, including small children, making the trek up the side of the mountain to reach the church. Stopping to give someone a ride if you are driving in a jeep can land you an invitation to the best dinner of your life!
